Something Different

I had to run some errands this morning and I had a brainstorm on my way back home. My hair dresser and I were talking about Chinese food while she was cutting my hair, just general conversation. It didn't hit me until on my way home - chopsticks!

That's right, I'm using chopsticks for every meal I eat. As soon as I got home, I popped in a bag of Lean Cuisine Market Creations and use my chopsticks to eat it. I immediately noticed that I was eating more slowly than if I were using a fork. I do have to say it was a little difficult picking up carrots covered in alfredo sauce but I did it.

I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to eat breakfast with chopsticks but I'll figure out something. I usually have oatmeal for breakfast so it may be impossible to eat that with chopsticks. If I have to use silverware for breakfast, fine, but I'll be using them for lunch and dinner.

I decided to use chopsticks because everyone says that eating slowly will make you feel full faster. Well, I can't eat any more slowly than when I'm using chopsticks. Besides, using chopsticks is fun! I have to thank the Chinese take out place for teaching me how to use chopsticks (there were directions on their chopsticks wrapper).

I know I'm going to see a difference in my eating by using chopsticks. Okay, it's time for me to run out and get the boys from school. Get up and get moving!

Slippery Slope

Today started off on the right foot but went downhill when the family talked me into going out for dinner. We had an appointment this afternoon after the boys got out of school and we knew dinner was going to be late if we cooked.

So, we ate at Golden Corral and it was a huge mistake for me. The healthy options there are almost nonexistent, unless I wanted to eat nothing but salad. Luckily, I found pan seared Tilapia over rice. I tried to shake off as much rice as I could but people were pushing and shoving like this was their last meal.

I can't believe how obnoxious people can be sometimes. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet and they were acting like the food was going to get up and run away. Being in there really drove home that I need to lose weight. Almost everyone I saw was overweight and/or obese and it made me sad to know that I'm one of them.

Tomorrow is yet another busy day away from the house beginning at 8 am, which means I'll have to get up extra early to make sure I eat breakfast at home. That's one of the hardest parts for me because I'm not a breakfast person. Eating early in the morning generally makes me sick to my stomach but I know it's something I've got to start doing.

I haven't worked out in a while (other than playing tennis yesterday but I don't view that as a workout) but I'm going to do that when I get back from my appointments tomorrow. The days just seem to fly by faster and faster all the time. I don't know where it's going, but the day seems to be over in no time.

Back in Action

For the past few days I've not been doing what I should be doing. I haven't been exercising or eating right but today is a new day and things are different. I didn't do a workout today but I did spend 45 minutes playing tennis with the family this afternoon. I'm working to get back on track! Tomorrow is another busy day but I'm not going to let it keep me from doing what must be done.

I'm never without my FitBit unless it needs to be charged and I love what it's done for my motivation! I want to get up and get moving so I can meet my goals. Take a look at what I've done today:

Today is over yet and I've already met and exceeding most of my goals! How awesome am I? I know, I know. Just kidding - I'm not that egoistical. I earned a badge today for walking 5,000 steps in a day.

Okay, I know this is short, but I've got to get going. Dinner is almost ready and I'm so ready to eat. If I can do, you can do it so get off your bum and get moving!

Poor Behavior

For the past few days I haven't been following my plan to the letter. But, tomorrow is a new day. I've been feeling like crap lately and it's time for me to get out of my funk and get down to business. I've been wearing my FitBit everyday and night but I haven't been tracking my food like I should or even eating right. I'm the captain of this ship and it's time I steer it in the right direction!

Winter!

Technically, it's been winter for a couple of months but you wouldn't know it here. We've had temps in the mid-60s some days! That's all changed tonight though. Right now, there is snow (finally) falling! I'm usually not a huge fan of snow but my opinion of snow is quickly changing!

Under the Weather

I've been sick for the past few days and it's really taking its toll on my routine.  I've been coughing, I have a stuffy head, and I don't have the energy to do anything. I haven't been working out at all and my diet has been suffering. It hasn't been terrible but it hasn't been as good as it was last week either. I haven't done anything without my FitBit and I'm learning a lot about how I'm sleeping, which is very surprising.

Progress

It's been a little over a week since I started the weight loss thing again and I'm down 8 pounds! It feels so good to be on the right track. I've been tracking my food everyday but I haven't been exercising. Last week was crazy busy and this week is shaping up to be the same way. I know that's an excuse and I'm working on correcting it. Hopefully tomorrow will be my last super hectic day for a while. I'm so tired of being on the go all the time.

FitBit - RAVE

I recently purchased FitBit Ultra and I absolutely love it! I was searching for something like this because I wanted something that would track my steps and calories burned. I haven't been satisfied with the pedometers I've had lately so I wanted something different. I certainly found it with FitBit.

Totally Motivated!

I can't tell you how motivated I am these days! I've been terrified that I have diabetes and high blood pressure and I'm happy to report that I do NOT have either!! I've been on a search for a wearable tracker (not a pedometer because I keep losing them...lol) and I hit pay dirt with FitBit. OMG, it's absolutely amazing!!

New Adventure

I am so excited about the things that are happening in my life! I decided to rejoin SparkPeople and things are progressing nicely. I've already lost 6.8 pounds and I feel amazing! The beautiful part of all of this, other than me feeling fan-flippin-tastic, is that I don't have to give up anything! I just have to watch how much I eat.

Alternatives

I just published a comment a reader left on my last post and it's prompted me to write this one. The comment was about gastric bypass surgery and this is something I've been looking into. I know someone who recently had the lap band surgery (when I say recent, I mean this week). There are many pros and cons, depending on who you talk to, about having any type of weight loss surgery. But, there's one major obstacle standing in my way....

Ah Ha!

We've all heard about people having an "ah ha" moment and I think I've had mine. Weight loss has been at the forefront of my mind for the past few days, which tells me it's time to do something about it! When I say it's been at the forefront of my mind, I mean I've been totally preoccupied with it.
