A Hurricane's A Comin'

Hurricane Irene is headed my way. I'm hoping the damage is minimal and that we don't lose power. However, if we do, it's just something we'll have to deal with. I'm going to use this weekend to catch up on some much needed tasks.

Gold's Gym Cardio - RAVE

I purchased Gold's Gym Cardio for Wii about a year ago and it's so much fun! It's hard to think of it as a workout. My boys workout along with me and even my husband uses it. You have the option of using a prepared workout or choosing the exercises you want to do.

The Dreaded Weigh In

It was a rough night last night and I didn't get to bed until after 2 am and, as a result, I got up late this morning. But, that isn't going to stop me from getting done what needs to be done. I've been up for a over an hour now and I feel pretty good. I weighed myself this morning to see what the damage is and, believe it or not, it's not too bad. Yes, I'm very overweight but I'm still under my highest weight ever. I'm trying to look on the bright side, okay?

Saddling Up....Again

I've decided that tomorrow is the day I get back on the saddle to become a healthier me. I'm tired of feeling like crap. It's time to do this! I've got MyFitnessPal installed on my cell again so I'll be tracking my meals and exercise daily. Be patient with me if I miss a day as this is a new routine compared to what I've been doing.

GC Gel Eyeliner

Another product that I bought from Gretchen was her gel eyeliner in Raven. I was a little afraid to use this at first because applying eyeliner can be tricky. But, after I used it the first time, I was hooked!

Gretchen Christine Flawless Complexion Gel

As you may know, I'm a big fan of the Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC) and one of the stars, Gretchen, has her own cosmetics line. Out of pure curiosity, I went to her website a few months ago and placed an order. Out of all the things I bought, 2 things stand out as the best products I've ever used, but I'm only going to discuss one here.

A Harsh Dose of Reality

We took our boys to a local carnival last night and I was so excited because they're both old enough to ride all of the rides with us. I like all the fast rides, like the Tilt-A-Whirl and roller coasters, and it's always more fun to ride with someone else. My oldest and I hit the Tilt-A-Whirl first. It's was awesome! Looking at his face while we're twirling around made me nervous because he looked like he was going to vomit. I kept asking him if he was okay and he said that he was. Even the operators asked if he was okay when we flew by.

My Big, Fat, Chocolate Cake

I really have a problem with self-sabotage and that's never been more evident than last night when I made a chocolate cake just so I could eat some batter! Today, I ate a huge piece of cake with extra icing. What is wrong with me?! I can't seem to make any headway with losing weight to save my life! But, boy, was that cake good.

My biggest problem is the sweets. I can't seem to give 'em up no matter how hard I try. Maybe that's the issue. Maybe denying myself something I'm craving makes me give in. I wonder if I were to allow myself a sweet treat every so often (like, say, once a week) if I would be less likely to want it.

I've been working on watching what I eat and how much of it but there are days when I feel like I could eat everything in sight. That's probably because I'm not a big breakfast person. Imagine that, a meal I won't eat. I had my husband pick up some breakfast sandwiches today at the market for me. I'm going to remove the sausage patty before microwaving it because I'm trying to watch the amount of meat I eat.

Tonight's dinner is turkey tacos with all the veggies I can handle. I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into some of my homegrown, red, juicy tomatoes! Alright, it's time to get up and get the laundry folded. My weekends are full of catching up on housework and homework. I feel like I'm neglecting this blog so bear with me.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend. I hope it's been productive!

Anxious

Thursday is the day that my husband has his third and final surgery on his rotator cuff. I'm anxious about the surgery and it's wreaking havoc on my eating habits. This week started off with us being at Johns Hopkins for his pre-op appointment. We had to be on the road at 4 am so yesterday was a really long day.

I went back to work today and it was nice to keep busy. I'm not looking forward to Thursday but I'm trying to stay positive. I'm taking my kindle with me so, hopefully, I can catch up on some reading. I haven't touched The Mediterranean Diet in days and I need to read it so I can begin the diet.

Speaking of the Mediterranean, we went to a Greek Festival Saturday and it was amazing. We had some great Greek food, I bought 2 pieces of evil eye jewelry, and we enjoyed some Greek music. We got there too early to see the dancers but we saw them last year (this is an annual festival to help the local Greek Orthodox Church).

Alright, it's time for me to get ready for bed. Have a great night!

Mary Kay Oil Mattifier

After researching the internet for ways to keep my makeup from melting, I found Mary Kay Oil Mattifier so I ordered it from eBay (I couldn't find a Mary Kay rep locally). I have very oily skin so the oil mattifier seemed like the perfect solution because it's supposed to keep the oil at bay.

When it was delivered, the weather wasn't warm enough to melt my makeup so I didn't use it. However, the weeks after that were hot and humid so I was able to test it out. All I can say is OMG! That stuff is absolutely amazing!

The first day I wore it, the air temperature was over 100 degrees and, with the heat index, it felt like 125 degrees. Now that's hot! But, the oil mattifier kept my makeup flawless all day.

If you have oily skin, this is a must have for your beauty collection.
