A Harsh Dose of Reality

We took our boys to a local carnival last night and I was so excited because they're both old enough to ride all of the rides with us. I like all the fast rides, like the Tilt-A-Whirl and roller coasters, and it's always more fun to ride with someone else. My oldest and I hit the Tilt-A-Whirl first. It's was awesome! Looking at his face while we're twirling around made me nervous because he looked like he was going to vomit. I kept asking him if he was okay and he said that he was. Even the operators asked if he was okay when we flew by.

After the Tilt-A-Whirl, we hit the scrambler and we brought along the youngest. We all piled into the cart and it was a tight fit. I was forced to see myself in a different light when I had trouble closing the gate. I really didn't think I was going to be able to close it! Somehow, I was able to get it closed but it was not comfortable at all. I didn't want to suffer the embarrassment of getting out of the cart so I dealt with it. After that, I was in a somber mood.

We hit the Tilt-A-Whirl again; this time my youngest and I were in the same cart and my oldest rode with a friend. We had a great time in spite of me feeling so bad about myself. I'm looking at this as a life-changing event because it's forced me to see who I am and what I really need to do.

I don't want to be one of those parents who can't do anything fun with her children because I can't fit or I'm too out of shape. My husband and I talked about all of this today and he's going to help me any way he can. My hours at work have gone back to 8-5 so I'm going to still get up at 5 am so I can workout before starting my morning routine.

As of today, I have drank my last Caramel Frappe from McDonald's. There's too many calories and way too much sugar in them. I'm also going to eat more salads instead of meats and carbs and I'm going to bust my butt to finish reading The Mediterranean Diet so I can follow it.

Time for me to get off my butt and get something done. The boys want dinner and hubby wants to spend time with me. Enjoy your weekend!
