OMG

I mentioned yesterday that the first book I'm reading for my new goal is "Smart Women Know When to Say No". Well, all I can say is OMG! Dr. Kevin Leman definitely knows what he's talking about. Although I'm only into the first part of the book, I can totally relate to what's being said. I usually don't read the introduction but this one jumped out at me and I had to read it. If you're a people pleaser of any kind, I highly recommend this book!

I don't want to put this book down! I'm reading it on my iPad Kindle app and thank goodness the app allows you to highlight. I can't tell you how many passages I've already highlighted and I'm not really into the meat of the book yet. I found out that there's more than one type of pleaser, each with its own set of characteristics. But, if you're anything like me, you'll find that you have characteristics of each type. That's where the highlighting became very useful. 

Mothers and daughters tend to have rocky patches in their relationships but did you know that a girl's relationship with her father determines whether or not she'll be a certain type of pleaser? I didn't either! My father has never been around and, yes, there have been times in my life when I've missed him, but, for the most part, I haven't really noticed. 

Today is a slow day at the office so I'm going to take advantage of it and get in some more reading. At this rate, I should have room to read at least 2 books this month. I just might forego the reading this afternoon and play some Nintendo with the boys. I can always read later tonight after they've gone to bed.
