That prompted me to visit a few other sites, like NutriSystem, Weight Waters, and Jenny Craig. I can't believe how expensive that stuff is! I've said it for years - people living on a budget can't afford to be healthy. It's so much cheaper to eat unhealthy foods than it is to buy the healthy stuff. Why is that?
I really wish someone could tell me why it's more expensive to be healthy. Most average people can't afford to eat all the healthy stuff out there, especially if they have a family. I know we spend, on average, $300 per month at the grocery store for the 4 of us. According to NutriSystem, it would cost me, just me, $250 per month to participate in their plan. So, let's do some math here.
At $300 per month for 4 people, that's $75 per person per month. If I use NutriSystem, our grocery bill will decrease by $75, making it $225 per month. Now, adding the NutriSystem payment of $250 per month brings our new monthly food total to $475 per month! That's $175 per month more than what we're currently spending for 4 people. Let's put this into perspective - my car payment and insurance per month is less than $475.
I have a difficult time justifying the added expense of joining a diet plan. It's just so frustrating. It's like everyone is working against overweight people and then complaining about the obesity epidemic in the United States. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
It's time to wrap this up. I need to get a few things done before heading off to bed. Have a great evening!
