A Slap in the Face

I weighed myself this morning and I liked to have fell off the damn scale! While I haven't been watching what I eat or exercising, I didn't expect to see what I saw. I gained 4.6 pounds! That shook me back to reality and woke up my brain, which has been lying dormant for a while with regards to weight loss apparently. I could have done what I usually do when I see weight gain and ran to the fridge for something to eat. But, I didn't do that.

I turned on the Wii, put in Gold's Gym Cardio and let a cartoon character kick my ass for 20 minutes. My arms and legs are already sore but it's a good feeling. I know I'm going to be really sore in the morning but that's okay because I'll know I actually did something. I'm going to do some more later today; not Gold's Gym but something else. I've got to get my ass in gear and get this weight off.

After my workout, which some would say isn't a "real" workout but those people can KMA, I had a nice bowl of oatmeal and some coffee. It's nearing lunchtime and I think I'm going to have a turkey sandwich on wheat with some celery and ranch dressing. I've got to find an alternative to the ranch because it's high in everything! I've heard people talk about hummus as an alternative but I can never remember to try it.

I'm wrapping up this semester of school and the next one doesn't start until October 3. I'm going to use the time I have with no homework to get my feet firmly planted into a new routine that involves dieting and exercise. I have to always remember that my health comes before watching television, vegging out on the couch, and homework. While homework is definitely important in my life, I can't put it above my health. Having an MBA isn't going to keep me around to enjoy my life and my family.

I know I've said this before but I'm going to say it again. I'm also going to try to blog more often so I can report my successes and failures. Once again, it's time to get off of my big ass and get moving. The kids want lunch and I'm getting hungry, too. It's time to start eating 4-5 times per day so I can stave off the starving feelings. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend and get active!
